The Modular & Portable Building Association<\/a> is supporting all those operating across the healthcare sectors who have an urgent need for more buildings or extending existing facilities during the COVID-19 crisis<\/h2>\n

The approach to coping with the COVID-19<\/a> healthcare crisis has been vastly different across the globe. China used the might of 7,000 workers and 1,000 construction machines, operating 24 hours a day to build hospitals but the strategy here in the UK is very different.<\/p>\n

In addition to repurposing existing buildings, modern modular methods of construction and portable buildings are being used to increase capacity for testing and healthcare facilities<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Support building delivery<\/h3>\n

Jackie Maginnis, chief executive of the Modular & Portable Building Association<\/a> (MPBA), said: “Our members are rallying to support this unparalleled situation by extending workforces and adding additional shifts to get the buildings delivered in the shortest possible time.<\/p>\n

“Both volumetric modular manufacturing companies and those involved in the hire of portable buildings are ramping up to meet demand for all sorts of healthcare buildings and units. From extensions to hospitals to welfare amenities such as more toilets and hand washing facilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs patient-led demand grows due to the COVID-19 crisis, healthcare environments are continually looking to adapt and expand their facilities quickly and cost-effectively. The healthcare sector doesn\u2019t have the time or resources to commission lengthy construction programmes.<\/p>\n

“The team here at the MPBA can help those in need by putting them in touch with their nearest modular manufacturer<\/a> or those who have portable buildings in stock and available for hire. We appreciate the excellent work the NHS and healthcare providers are doing, and we are keen to help.\u201d<\/p>\n

Given the critical nature of this crisis, the necessity to quickly source modern and fully functional buildings is an imperative. The MPBA is keen to help and by putting calls out to their extensive network, they can save healthcare providers valuable time and resources.<\/p>\n
