{"id":75176,"date":"2020-04-22T11:08:35","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T10:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=75176"},"modified":"2020-04-22T11:08:35","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T10:08:35","slug":"quayside-regeneration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/quayside-regeneration\/75176\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier wins phase one of Gloucester Quayside regeneration"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Construction giant, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kier<\/a> has been awarded phase one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gloucestershire.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gloucestershire County Council\u2019s<\/a> Quayside regeneration masterplan<\/h2>\n<p>The Quayside regeneration masterplan, worth in excess of \u00a315m and procured through SCF, will see Kier develop a design for a multi-purpose 3-storey building including two GP surgeries serving around 17,500 patients, a pharmacy, office space and parking.<\/p>\n<p>The project will see Kier deliver a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">training and development<\/a> opportunities, including nine apprenticeships, 17 work placements and 11 new job creations.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Bolas, Gloucester office operations director at Kier Regional Building Central, said: \u201cWe are delighted to have been appointed to deliver Quayside House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis achievement builds on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/kier-gloucestershire-hopsital-development\/47879\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">existing relationship<\/a> working on the Gloucestershire County Council Framework where we have successfully completed over 50 projects in the past 15 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This latest award win for Kier follows on from its appointment by Gloucester County Council to reclad Shire Hall, its Gloucester City Centre offices. This project, which sits adjacent to the new Quayside house development, marks the first step in the wider regeneration of the Blackfriars area.<\/p>\n<p>Phase one of Quayside regeneration masterplan is due to be completed in early 2021.<\/p>\n<h3>Blackfriars and Quayside regeneration<\/h3>\n<p>The \u00a3135m masterplan scheme, which includes waterfront houses, was drawn up by Gloucester and Gloucestershire councils.<\/p>\n<p>Gloucestershire County Council and Gloucester City Council worked together with partners to create a Local Development Order (LDO) to kick start the regeneration of the Blackfriars and Quayside area of Gloucester. The council acquired a regeneration grant of \u00a34.13m from central government and GFirst LEP Gloucestershire Growth Deal 2015 to 2021 in order to revive the Quayside and Blackfriars areas of the city.<\/p>\n<p>A planning application to demolish Quayside House, County Garage, Oxleaze building and former Quayprint building was submitted on 9 March 2017.
