{"id":75603,"date":"2020-04-30T11:25:18","date_gmt":"2020-04-30T10:25:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=75603"},"modified":"2020-04-30T11:25:18","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T10:25:18","slug":"cleaning-of-pipework-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/cleaning-of-pipework-systems\/75603\/","title":{"rendered":"New pre-commission cleaning of pipework systems guidance"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsria.com\/uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BSRIA<\/a> has published a new edition of its guide on pre-commission cleaning of pipework systems<\/h2>\n<p>The latest guidance on pre-commission cleaning of pipework systems, BG 29\/2020 is the sixth edition, replacing BG 29\/2012.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-commission cleaning is the process of bringing a closed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/overheating-resilience\/74408\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">heating or cooling system<\/a> to a satisfactory state for commissioning and ongoing maintenance of water quality.<\/p>\n<p>System contaminants such as mill scale, jointing compound and building debris will inevitably be found in newly fabricated heating and cooling pipework systems. If allowed to remain in the system in sufficient quality, these contaminants will make the system prone to blockages at strainers, control valves and small-bore heat exchangers. They may also initiate further corrosion and encourage the growth of microorganisms.<\/p>\n<p>Originally published in 1991, BG29 is essential reading for any company operating in the water management area.
