Modular building specialist, Caledonian<\/a>, has secured a contract to deliver volumetric modular serviced apartments for One Charter Street in Canary Wharf, London<\/h2>\n

The design agreement for One Charter Street \u2013 a 279 apartment tower in Canary Wharf<\/a> \u2013 will provide the \u2018gateway\u2019, to Canary Wharf\u2019s new district, Wood Wharf.<\/p>\n

As part of the 20-storey building, Caledonian will deliver 17 floors of volumetric modular serviced apartments over a retail\/amenity space in the lower podium levels.<\/p>\n

Two full-height concrete cores will provide structural stability and the scheme will be topped with a rooftop restaurant providing a unique dining experience with prime views over London City.<\/p>\n

The scheme is an open and collaborative approach between Canary Wharf Group<\/a>, edyn<\/a>, Caledonian, design partners HTA<\/a>, Holloway Li<\/a> and TUV-SUD.<\/p>\n

A precision manufactured design solution maximises levels of offsite completion and significantly reduces onsite resource and programme.<\/p>\n

The steel-framed modules are being designed and manufactured at Caledonian\u2019s 40-acre manufacturing facility in Newark, where Caledonian\u2019s offsite solution<\/a> enables each room to be completed to a high standard including the fitting of furniture, bathrooms, kitchens and en-suite facilities prior to transport.<\/p>\n

This is the latest success for Caledonian<\/a> which underpins continued growth plans and investment in the business and contributes to current secured pipeline in excess of \u00a3200m.<\/p>\n

Caledonian continues to invest in new systems and technologies to advance precision manufactured techniques and processes, producing products that are over 90% factory complete and actively advancing its design principles towards a net-zero carbon future.<\/p>\n

Canary Wharf\u2019s new district<\/h3>\n

Wood Wharf is the latest chapter in the transformation of the historic West India Docks. Once part of the world’s busiest port during the 1800s, it now welcomes 120,000 office workers every day. The docks closed in 1980, and over the past 30 years, the district has become one of Europe\u2019s largest centres for finance, business and tech, with more than 16 million sq ft of office space.<\/p>\n

Wood Wharf will be a multi-billion pound development and is expected to generate \u00a32bn gross value from new jobs, add \u00a3199m into the local small business economy and generate 20,000 new jobs.<\/p>\n
