Regeneration company Urban Splash<\/a> has revealed it will reopen its construction sites and its\u00a0House by Urban Splash<\/em>\u00a0modular factory\u00a0from today (4 May)<\/h2>\n

Urban Splash\u00a0announced the immediate closure of its sites, sales offices and factory in March amidst\u00a0the UK lockdown.<\/p>\n

However, the company now has robust\u00a0measures in place to welcome back its furloughed<\/a> staff.<\/p>\n

Disciplines\u00a0have been introduced\u00a0to meet the strategies set out within the government Covid-19 construction sector\u00a0guidelines.<\/p>\n

Health and wellbeing<\/h3>\n

Chairman Tom Bloxham\u00a0MBE, explained: \u201cThe\u00a0health and wellbeing\u00a0of\u00a0our team, suppliers and subcontractors\u00a0has been the driver in every decision we\u2019ve made this past month.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd now, following\u00a0the latest\u00a0Construction Leadership Council guidelines<\/a>, we are pleased to recommence construction, while continuing to keep our hard-working colleagues safe.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have\u00a0taken the time to brief\u00a0colleagues\u00a0in-depth\u00a0on the specific processes at each site, allowing them\u00a0to\u00a0adhere to\u00a0robust\u00a0new\u00a0health and safety\u00a0measures, new ways of working and\u00a0respect\u00a0social distancing<\/a> guidelines; with these in place, we are confident that we can protect our\u00a0workforce\u00a0and\u00a0will continue to monitor the guidelines issued by the government moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Urban Splash\u00a0also confirmed that non-site colleagues will\u00a0continue to work remotely from home,\u00a0and that\u00a0the\u00a0five\u00a0shareholding\u00a0directors had opted to take a 30% reduction in pay while\u00a0the lockdown continues\u00a0and other colleagues remain on furlough.<\/p>\n

Bloxham\u00a0added: \u201cWe\u2019ve responded innovatively during this period, enabling our sales colleagues\u00a0to\u00a0work effectively from home,\u00a0speaking\u00a0with lots of customers each day\u00a0and\u00a0taking\u00a0reservations\u00a0\u2013 albeit at a slower rate than usual.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve continued to\u00a0win awards for our work and\u00a0we\u00a0now want to\u00a0safely\u00a0restart operations\u00a0to create\u00a0new\u00a0neighbourhoods\u00a0and much needed new homes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sites\u00a0on which Urban Splash is creating homes and workspace include New Islington and Avro in Manchester, Port Loop in Birmingham, Wirral Waters in Merseyside, Melville\u00a0at Royal William Yard\u00a0in Plymouth and\u00a0Park Hill in Sheffield.<\/p>\n
