Legal & General<\/a> has been given the green light to deliver modular homes on the site of the former civic centre in Selby<\/h2>\n

Legal & General Modular Homes plans to deliver 154 modular homes<\/a> on the former civic centre in Selby, North Yorkshire.<\/p>\n

Legal & General has ambitions to produce 3,000 new homes a year by 2024 from its factory in Sherburn-in-Elmet.<\/p>\n

Legal & General Modular Homes will deliver a full development proposition from buying land, developing the product, achieving planning consent through to delivery.<\/p>\n

The masterplan at the site in Selby incorporates a mix of terraced houses and low-rise apartments. L&G will deliver 76 one and two-bedroom apartments and 78 two and three-bedroom houses.<\/p>\n

Revolutionise UK construction<\/h3>\n

CEO of Legal & General Modular Homes, Rosie Toogood, commented: \u201cUsing modular construction, Legal & General will be able to deliver high-quality homes at a much faster rate than through traditional construction. In a post-Covid-19<\/a> crisis environment, the speed of delivery will be more important than ever before.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur journey to revolutionise the UK\u2019s construction industry is well underway, and planning consent at Portholme Road, Selby is testament to this.\u00a0This scheme, along with our proposals at Bonnington Walk in Bristol, will showcase the benefits of modular construction<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAchieving planning permission for this Selby scheme is a fantastic milestone for the business, and a major achievement for the team, particularly set against the current backdrop.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the Covid-19 lockdown, L&G has continued to pay 100% of employees\u2019 wages and have not applied for any financial support from the government. Factory operatives were originally sent home but some returned last week, with operations re-aligned to accommodate social distancing<\/a>.<\/p>\n
