{"id":75997,"date":"2020-05-11T10:23:19","date_gmt":"2020-05-11T09:23:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=75997"},"modified":"2020-05-11T10:23:19","modified_gmt":"2020-05-11T09:23:19","slug":"sme-housebuilders-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/sme-housebuilders-pandemic\/75997\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish government supports SME housebuilders through pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Housebuilders will be able to apply for short-term loans of up to \u00a31m from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.scot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scottish Government<\/a> to support them through the coronavirus outbreak<\/h2>\n<p>Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with liquidity issues due to the temporary closure of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/modular-construction-news\/public-sector-investment-housebuilding\/70466\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">housebuilding sector<\/a> will be able to apply to a \u00a3100m Scottish Government loan.<\/p>\n<h3>Emergency loan fund aims to:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Safeguard jobs and protect suppliers<\/li>\n<li>Support post-Covid-19 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/construction-output-april\/75906\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">economic recovery<\/a> and the continued supply of homes<\/li>\n<li>Retain diversity of the housebuilding sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Construction work still paused<\/h3>\n<p>Housing minister, Kevin Stewart, said: \u201cTo save lives and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/ppe-to-the-nhs\/75693\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">protect the NHS<\/a> during the coronavirus outbreak all non-essential construction work has been halted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This decision was not taken lightly, and I know it is having a profound impact on the housebuilding sector, particularly smaller businesses which are struggling to cope with delayed house sales and the increased costs associated with site shutdowns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new loan fund is open to small and medium-sized housebuilders operating within Scotland.
