{"id":76151,"date":"2020-05-13T11:30:06","date_gmt":"2020-05-13T10:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=76151"},"modified":"2020-05-13T11:30:06","modified_gmt":"2020-05-13T10:30:06","slug":"marshalls-restructuring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/plant-equipment-supplies-news\/marshalls-restructuring\/76151\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshalls restructure plans could make up to 400 staff redundant"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Landscape products group, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshalls.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marshalls plc<\/a>, has revealed it could make up to 400 employees redundant, as it makes a series of restructuring proposals following a fall in sales<\/h2>\n<p>In its latest trading update, Marshalls unveiled its strategy for coping with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/covid-19-construction-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Covid-19 <\/a>crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Restructuring plans selective site closures, changes in shift patterns and proposed changes to the size of and structure of support functions.<\/p>\n<p>There are potentially up to 400 positions representing 15% of Marshalls total workforce, that may be impacted as a result of these proposed changes.<\/p>\n<p>The paving specialist also revealed it would reopen its plants as demand returns. It said: \u201cThe nature of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/low-carbon-concrete\/72344\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">concrete manufacturing<\/a> process means our facilities have low re-start time and cost requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis flexibility and our improved efficiency means that capacity will not be materially reduced by the proposed changes and we will continue to satisfy our customers&#8217; requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Previous action taken by Marshalls to soften the Covid-19 blow include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Board and executive management agreed to a 20% reduction in remuneration.<\/li>\n<li>Senior managers in the business also agreed a 15% reduction in their remuneration.<\/li>\n<li>Utilising the government&#8217;s scheme which allows the deferral of tax payments that would normally have been payable in the period to 30 June 2020<\/li>\n<li>Utilise the furlough arrangements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The group has also signed final agreements with each of NatWest, Lloyds and HSBC for an additional\u00a0\u00a330, 12-month committed revolving credit facility with each, with a 12-month extension option. These additional facilities comprise\u00a0\u00a390m.
