{"id":76567,"date":"2020-05-22T08:13:14","date_gmt":"2020-05-22T07:13:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=76567"},"modified":"2020-05-22T08:13:14","modified_gmt":"2020-05-22T07:13:14","slug":"old-vinyl-factory-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/old-vinyl-factory-plan\/76567\/","title":{"rendered":"Go-ahead for final phase of Old Vinyl Factory masterplan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The final residential phase of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandiplc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U+I\u2019s<\/a> Old Vinyl Factory masterplan has been given the green light at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hillingdon.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hillingdon Council\u2019s<\/a> first ever virtual planning committee<\/h2>\n<p>Developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/josephhomes.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joseph Homes<\/a>, One Vinyl Square represents one of the final pieces of U+I\u2019s transformation of the Hayes town centre site.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to delivering 134 much-needed homes, the plans include 4,252 sq ft of commercial space, 238 cycle spaces, 67 car parking spaces and associated landscaping.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/new-homes-industry\/75524\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new homes<\/a> will consist of a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom maisonettes, including those for private sale, shared ownership and affordable rent.<\/p>\n<p>One Vinyl Square sits to the west of the largest public space at The Old Vinyl Factory, Vinyl Square, which serves as the main arrival space. It will combine high-quality planting, play space and a strong narrative relating to the musical history of the site, including the 6m sculpture of Nipper the Dog, the emblem of HMV, the globally famous brand that was born at The Old Vinyl Factory.<\/p>\n<p>The associated landscaping will also be inspired by and feature references to Alan Blumlein, a senior sound engineer and inventor at EMI\u2019s Central Research Laboratories, credited with inventing stereo.<\/p>\n<p>The planning permission represents a significant step forward for the Old Vinyl Factory masterplan, which was designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/studioegretwest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Studio Egret West<\/a> and extends across 17 acres near Hayes town centre and Crossrail station.<\/p>\n<p>The Old Vinyl Factory has been reimagined as a mix of restored Art Deco office buildings, new homes, innovation and educational hubs, shops, caf\u00e9s, restaurants and a climbing centre.<\/p>\n<h3>Revitalising Hayes town centre<\/h3>\n<p>Richard Upton, chief development officer at U+I, said<strong>:<\/strong> \u201cOne Vinyl Square will serve as a centrepiece and landmark building for U+I\u2019s Old Vinyl Factory masterplan, as we step closer to realising our ambitions of revitalising Hayes town centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe scheme has completely rejuvenated a previously underutilised yet culturally significant site while delivering hundreds of much-need new homes and jobs for the Hayes community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat the project was approved unanimously at Hillingdon Council\u2019s first ever virtual planning committee is testament to the fantastic work and vision of Joseph Homes and the design team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Craig Carson, development director at Joseph
