Housebuilder Keepmoat Homes<\/a> has revealed it will reopen 46 of its construction sites across England under a phased programme<\/h2>\n

The phased programme will enable construction sites to be reopened over the next few weeks in a safe and controlled manner.<\/p>\n

Keepmoat Homes subsidiary MCI is also reopening another 11 sites.<\/p>\n

Keepmoat closed all construction sites at the end of March in the face of Covid-19<\/a> worries.<\/p>\n

Sites reopening will strictly follow guidance on social distancing<\/a> issued by the Construction Leadership Council.<\/p>\n

Housing ladder needs remain unchanged<\/h3>\n

Chief executive officer of Keepmoat Homes, Tim Beale, said: \u201cThe government recognises the construction industry as a cornerstone of the UK economy and a major employer.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt knows we have the skills and procedures to manage safety on site and trusts us to be in the vanguard of the return to work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the pressure to continue meeting local and national housing need, we have had overwhelming support from our local authority and housing association partners in prioritising the safety of our colleagues.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe needs of first time buyers for an affordable first step on the housing ladder are unchanged,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have seen continuing demand for new homes and are ensuring that homes are available to buy as consumer confidence returns.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keepmoat Homes notes potential problems for the housebuilding industry<\/a> in the supply of essential construction materials, the connection of utilities, the availability of mortgages and the valuation of homes for mortgage purposes.<\/p>\n
