The Royal Town Planning Institute<\/a> (RTPI) has appointed RSK Environment Ltd<\/a> to prepare a Climate Impact Assessment for the institute<\/h2>\n

As part of the Climate Impact Assessment, RSK will also produce an \u2018action plan\u2019, highlighting ways the RTPI can reduce its carbon footprint<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The announcement follows an open tender process inviting consultancies to tender to undertake an assessment of how the RTPI can alleviate its impact on climate and become more sustainable.<\/p>\n

Associate director and carbon team leader at RSK, Dave Allen, said: \u201cRSK is delighted to have the opportunity to support the RTPI\u2019s strategic ambition to become a leading advocate of climate action<\/a> through the delivery of its corporate strategy 2020-2030.<\/p>\n

\u201cInherent in this, is our shared commitment to best practice with respect to climate change and sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to working with the RTPI to support them on this important journey from consultation and assessment, through benchmarking and consensus building, to the development of actions that will reduce their climate impact.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Urgent need to address the climate crisis\u2019<\/h3>\n

Ian Tant MRTPI, immediate past president and board champion for climate action at RTPI, commented: \u201cWith RSK\u2019s expert help and input, I\u2019m sure that the climate\u00a0action plan for the RTPI will help cement the institute\u2019s position as a leading advocate for sustainable place-making through a clear commitment to tackling climate change.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the urgent need to address the climate crisis underpinning all aspects of the RTPI\u2019s corporate strategy<\/a>, I\u2019m delighted that we\u2019ll be working with RSK on this important piece of work.\u201d<\/p>\n

RSK will start work on the climate impact assessment phase of the project immediately with initial consultation and data collection taking place throughout June.<\/p>\n

Stakeholder workshops and action planning will take place in July and the project will conclude with the publication of the \u2018Action Plan\u2019 summary in August 2020.<\/p>\n
