{"id":77486,"date":"2020-06-11T08:59:07","date_gmt":"2020-06-11T07:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=77486"},"modified":"2020-06-11T08:59:07","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T07:59:07","slug":"back-to-work-across-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/back-to-work-across-england\/77486\/","title":{"rendered":"Offsite manufacturer &#8216;back to work&#8217; across England"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollalong.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rollalong<\/a> is reopening its construction sites, including sites in Barking, East London where it is working with regeneration company <a href=\"http:\/\/befirst.london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BeFirst<\/a> to deliver affordable housing<\/h2>\n<p>Rollalong has reopened its site at Sugden Way in Barking, East London where it is working with regeneration company BeFirst to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/mclaren-barking-regeneration\/56027\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deliver affordable housing<\/a> for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.<\/p>\n<p>Rollalong is also starting a number of new construction projects across the south of England.<\/p>\n<p>The offsite manufacturer has produced its own Covid-19 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/site-operating-procedures-released\/76379\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Site Operating Procedures<\/a> to sit alongside and enhance the guidance issued by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionleadershipcouncil.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction Leadership Council<\/a> and the government.<\/p>\n<p>The procedures set out Rollalong\u2019s approach to safely operating construction sites to prevent the spread of Covid-19.<\/p>\n<h3>Including measures such as:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing hand sanitising stations around site<\/li>\n<li>Providing Covid-19 induction training to all personnel<\/li>\n<li>Displaying signs on hand hygiene and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/highways-workers-social-distancing\/74561\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social distancing<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Reducing seating in offices and canteens to maintain social distancing<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced cleaning regimes for commonly touched surfaces<\/li>\n<li>Meetings to be held outside where possible<\/li>\n<li>Staggered breaks to reduce the number of people using the canteen<\/li>\n<li>One-way system for pedestrians to prevent people crossing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to reopening sites, Rollalong is also starting work on a number of new projects, including: a new special educational needs (SEN) facility for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dorset County Council<\/a> at St Mary\u2019s School in Puddletown; a teaching classroom facility for the MOD at Worthy Down; new facilities for St Peter\u2019s School in Old Windsor for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wokingham.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wokingham Borough Council<\/a>; and various education projects for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hants.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hampshire County Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Back to work while prioritising health and safety<\/h3>\n<p>Managing director at Rollalong, Steve Chivers, said: \u201cLike many construction companies we closed all our sites when the national lockdown was first announced in March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn line with Government guidelines, we are now reopening sites and getting back to work while always prioritising the health and safety of our staff, suppliers, contractors and local residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very good news, and while we\u2019re taking a safety-first approach it\u2019s great to be back on site and turning these projects into reality. In the current crisis, the advantages of modular offsite construction become really clear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMuch of the work is done in our factory in Dorset, which minimises the number of trades we need on-site.
