Planning has been granted for the first phase of Convoys Wharf, a \u00a31bn regeneration scheme on the Royal Docks in Deptford, London<\/h2>\n

The London Borough of Lewisham<\/a> has given Farrells<\/a> the green light for the Convoys Wharf scheme.<\/p>\n

As the first of 22 plots within a large-scale consented masterplan by Farrells, the site will include a new-build residential block comprising 456 one and two bedroom apartments, with a retail offering at ground level.<\/p>\n

A communal courtyard and car parking will also be created as part of the initial phase.<\/p>\n

Mike Stowell at Farrells, commented: \u201cThe regeneration of this former brownfield site<\/a> creates a fantastic new opportunity for Deptford releasing to the local community new public realm, cultural, commercial and education opportunities and new green space.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is the additional important benefit of releasing 500m of the borough\u2019s riverfront to the public for the first time in 500 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking forward to developing the first phase of this long-awaited scheme and working with the local community on the next phases.\u201d<\/p>\n

Redevelopment of Convoys Wharf<\/h3>\n

The redevelopment of Convoys Wharf will transform a formerly inaccessible site, offering a new waterfront, a new 1.5 acre park on an existing pontoon on the River Thames, cultural and commercial amenities, along with approximately 3,500 high-quality residential properties.<\/p>\n

It will include three acres of new public parks, a new school, space for cultural usage, a range of shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as link to and enhance the existing High Street in Deptford and the historic town<\/a> centre and create 2,000 full time jobs and 1,200+ construction jobs.<\/p>\n

The masterplan is predicated around the surviving archaeology and the rich heritage of the site as a Royal Shipyard.<\/p>\n

There has been extensive public consultation from the beginning of the Convoys Wharf masterplan which will continue through the various phases of the development.<\/p>\n
