{"id":78363,"date":"2020-06-29T14:27:04","date_gmt":"2020-06-29T13:27:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=78363"},"modified":"2020-06-29T14:27:04","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T13:27:04","slug":"new-brighton-student-residence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/new-brighton-student-residence\/78363\/","title":{"rendered":"Construction work starts on new Brighton student residence"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Student accommodation provider <a href=\"http:\/\/alumnogroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alumno<\/a> has given the green light to <a href=\"https:\/\/westridgeconstruction.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Westridge Construction<\/a> to begin work on a new project in the Falmer district of Brighton and Hove<\/h2>\n<p>The new four-storey Falmer Cottages student residence is being built in association with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bimm.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">British and Irish Modern Music Institute<\/a> (BIMM), Europe\u2019s largest and leading provider of music education, which counts James Bay and George Ezra among its alumni.<\/p>\n<p>The development will be located close to BIMM\u2019s Brighton campus and adjacent to Falmer train station, making it also easily accessible to students from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sussex.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of Sussex<\/a> and the University of Brighton.<\/p>\n<p>Alumno\u2019s managing director, David Campbell, said: \u201cWe are delighted to announce the beginning of the construction process on our first student residence in Brighton and are excited to be working with the BIMM on the project via a nomination agreement.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cFalmer Cottages will deliver the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/bermondsey-student-accommodation\/72871\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">same high standards displayed<\/a> by all our developments and meet the growing need for student accommodation in the city.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Falmer Cottages will accommodate 71 students across 55 ensuite and 16 studio rooms.
