{"id":78873,"date":"2020-07-08T08:09:51","date_gmt":"2020-07-08T07:09:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=78873"},"modified":"2020-07-08T08:09:51","modified_gmt":"2020-07-08T07:09:51","slug":"engineering-services-skillcard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/engineering-services-skillcard\/78873\/","title":{"rendered":"Engineering services SKILLcard goes \u2018fully digital\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The engineering services SKILLcard has streamlined its service by making the recording of employer\u00a0endorsements for card applicants fully digital<\/h2>\n<p>Engineering Services <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/expired-skillcards\/73732\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SKILLcard<\/a>, which has over 64,000 cardholders across the UK, said the move was part of the ongoing drive to continually improve the application process.<\/p>\n<p>SKILLcard is managed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebesa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Building Engineering Services Association<\/a> (BESA) and is used by heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration operatives to provide proof of competence and qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>It also covers building engineering services supervisors and managers.<\/p>\n<h3>Go \u2018smart\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>It was the first CSCS card scheme to go \u2018smart\u2019 easing the process of updating the holder\u2019s qualifications and making it simpler and quicker for site managers to check skills and prevent potential fraud.<\/p>\n<p>This latest development means endorsers\u00a0will no longer have to print off forms, sign in pen and\u00a0then\u00a0send back to\u00a0SKILLcard.<\/p>\n<p>In its place, they will receive a link via email and can complete their endorsement with a digital signature\u00a0in a fraction of the time.<\/p>\n<p>Rachel Davidson, director of certification at BESA, commented: \u201cWe are constantly\u00a0striving\u00a0to improve the service we offer\u00a0to those working in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/changes-the-building-services\/75923\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">building engineering services<\/a> sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObtaining a valid\u00a0SKILLcard\u00a0is essential for them to access sites\u00a0proving\u00a0their skills, qualifications and occupation.
