business<\/h2>\n<p>Formerly chief operating officer at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.murphygroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Murphy Group<\/a> and managing director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/t-level-qualification\/78299\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HS2 joint venture<\/a> at Balfour Beatty, Peter Anderson brings thirty years of transport sector experience to the role.<\/p>\n<p>Amey operates and maintains both strategic road networks for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/highways-england\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Highways England<\/a>, Transport Scotland and Transport NI, as well as local roads on behalf of councils across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Amey is also involved in several high-profile rail projects on behalf of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkrail.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Network Rail<\/a>, including Crossrail, the \u00a35bn transformation of the Wales and Borders rail network, and the operation of London\u2019s Dockland\u2019s Light Railway.<\/p>\n<h3>Delivering strategic rail and highways projects<\/h3>\n<p>Amanda Fisher, chief executive of Amey, said: \u201cWe welcome the government\u2019s plans to accelerate <a
