The Construction Leadership Council\u2019s<\/a> Covid-19 task force has published guidance on future-proofing construction contract amendments as a result of the global pandemic<\/h2>\n

The disputes and collaboration group for the CLC\u2019s Covid-19 task force has published guidance on construction contract amendments to build on the \u2018Contractual Best Practice Guidance\u2019.<\/p>\n

The construction contract<\/a> amendments include options for altering many of the JCT and NEC contracts to cater for impacts of the pandemic on delivery of the works\/services.<\/p>\n

The output cannot tell parties what to do but can help them identify the issues and distil their negotiated position into the drafting of the contract.<\/p>\n

It is anticipated that this advice will provide a starting point for all parties involved as to how they will deal with the Covid-19 pandemic going forward.<\/p>\n

The disputes<\/a> and collaboration group has also published additional material \u2013 a \u2018Summary Guide and Guidance on Record Keeping\u2019 \u2013 to help the supply chain manage the impact of Covid-19 on their businesses.<\/p>\n

\u2018Sustain the construction industry\u2019<\/h3>\n

Steve Bratt, group chief executive officer at Electrical Contractors\u2019 Association<\/a>, said: \u201cThe challenges UK businesses have faced as a result of the pandemic have been unprecedented.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs such, the Construction Leadership Council has been working to sustain the construction industry through the current period when restrictions are in place, and to ensure it is able to drive future economic growth and prosperity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe additional guidance published today on the future-proofing of contracts forms a key part of this workstream, enabling businesses to work across their supply chains<\/a> and plan for the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cBuilding on the bank of advice issued by Government and industry in the last few months, this combined with the summary and record-keeping guides aims to support firms as they continue to navigate the challenges of Covid-19 on their businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n
