Mace<\/a> and Atkins<\/a> have been chosen to deliver part of Thames Water\u2019s<\/a> \u00a39bn AMP7 capital programme<\/h2>\n

Atkins has been named strategic delivery partner to Thames Water.<\/p>\n

It will deliver asset management, project management<\/a> and technical assurance services to support the utility\u2019s transition to an \u2018intelligent client\u2019 model as part of the \u00a39bn AMP7 capital programme.<\/p>\n

The \u00a320m, five-year contract will see Atkins employees seconded into the asset management and capital delivery functions of Thames Water to advise on future work such as master planning, asset modelling, surveying, data generation and analysis and delivering a range of business-critical strategic studies.<\/p>\n

Philip Hoare, president at Atkins,\u00a0said: \u201cThis appointment will see us supporting Thames Water across a breadth of disciplines, providing technical capabilities to the utility company during its transition to an \u2018intelligent client\u2019 delivery model.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to working closely with Thames Water over the next five years to explore more sustainable ways of working and deliver value to the customers of the biggest water and wastewater utility in the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andy Dunn, chief scientist and head of engineering at Thames Water, said: \u201cWe are pleased to have Atkins as part of our engineering delivery partnership as we enhance our \u2018intelligent client\u2019 role within Thames Water.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a challenging programme of work for AMP7<\/a> and I am looking forward to the support Atkins will provide as Thames Water rises to that challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mace\u2019s role<\/h3>\n

Mace has secured the role of programme management office (PMO) delivery partner.<\/p>\n

Mace will help deliver the largest ever water sector capital programme, assisting Thames Water with programme management, quality assurance, business systems and processes and governance and risk.<\/p>\n

Mace\u2019s team will also support Thames Water build its PMO capabilities with a comprehensive transition plan, selection and training of PMO personnel and development of PMO policies and practices.<\/p>\n

Javid Khaliq, business unit director for energy & utilities at Mace, added: \u201cMace is delighted to work with Thames Water again, this time on the largest and most complex capital programme that the UK\u2019s water sector<\/a> has seen.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur programme management office capabilities will help Thames Water successfully transition to an intelligent client model, and we look forward to building this long-term relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cMace will combine its international expertise in managing the PMO for global programmes and projects, with its local water sector expertise to help the client in this major transformation journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thames Water is implementing an intelligent client model with a client-led PMO for AMP7, requiring a progressive build of in-house capabilities in programme and project management.<\/p>\n

Thames Water is moving from an alliance model to develop their internal capabilities and have recognised that Mace can support and supplement their team in achieving this.<\/p>\n
