Renovation of the Victorian railway sheds was a major part of the riverside site\u2019s development to create the city council\u2019s new office, Sand Martin House.<\/p>\n<h3>Prevent heat loss<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/school-of-fine-art-in-leeds\/73569\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Secondary glazing<\/a> is an ideal solution to prevent heat loss while preserving a building\u2019s essential character. This represents a considerable reduction in heat loss as studies have shown that a single glazed metal window has a U-value of 5.7W\/m2K. Decreasing a building\u2019s\u00a0U-value will lower energy\u00a0consumption leading\u00a0to reduced energy bills.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the building\u2019s Grade II listing, the secondary glazing installation had to be discreet and unobtrusive.
