{"id":80985,"date":"2020-08-14T12:22:45","date_gmt":"2020-08-14T11:22:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=80985"},"modified":"2020-08-17T08:04:23","modified_gmt":"2020-08-17T07:04:23","slug":"brent-council-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/brent-council-homes\/80985\/","title":{"rendered":"Green light for Brent council homes and education centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Plans for a new education centre building, affordable workspace and scores of new council homes at London Affordable rent has been approved by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brent.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brent Council<\/a>\u2019s Planning Committee<\/h2>\n<p>The committee met last to consider the proposal to develop the site at 1 Morland Gardens replace it with a new building which would provide a modern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/residential-accommodation\/80902\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">purpose-built home for Brent<\/a>\u2019s adult education service.<\/p>\n<p>65 new council homes will also be provided which will be made available at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/300m-funding-london-homes\/77130\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">London Affordable Rent<\/a>, 21 of which will be family-sized homes, including a number of 4-bed and 5-bed homes.<\/p>\n<p>Brent Council\u2019s Cabinet agreed in January to commit \u00a343m to the scheme, including \u00a315m of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local.gov.uk\/pas\/pas-topics\/pas-archive\/developer-contributions-cil-s106-archived-pages\/archived-what-cil\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Strategic CIL<\/a> money to fit out the new educational facility, all subject to the planning permission received.<\/p>\n<h3>Providing new skills and qualifications<\/h3>\n<p>Cllr Amer Agha, cabinet member for schools, employment &amp;
