Britishvolt<\/a> has appointed NG Bailey<\/a> to build the UK\u2019s first battery gigaplant, which will produce lithium-ion battery technology for the automotive and renewable energy sectors<\/h2>\n

Ray Macera has been appointed as project director for the construction and implementation of the gigaplant.<\/p>\n

The gigaplant will produce lithium-ion battery technology for the automotive and renewable energy<\/a> sectors.<\/p>\n

Macera joins Britishvolt as an expert of leading large-scale automotive projects.<\/p>\n

NG Bailey will lead the gigaplant\u2019s build and Ridge and Partners<\/a> will be providing project management of the architecture.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Rolton Group Ltd<\/a> has been selected to undertake all engineering design. While property company, Savills are undertaking infrastructure and planning services.<\/p>\n

Transform UK car-making<\/h3>\n

Britishvolt CEO, Orral Nadjari said: \u201cOur mission is for the gigaplant to begin supplying the automotive and energy industries with world-class batteries, powering the electric revolution.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith these highly experienced new partners leading the construction phase we have the expertise to build and equip a gigaplant that will be transformative for UK car-making, the renewable energy industry and the entire British economy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe already have momentum, working and deploying capital expenditure early in the process so that we can accurately assess, the level of UK government support that will be required to enable us to move the project forwards.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re also working with agility and speed. Thanks to previous experience with the UK BIC plant, we have achieved more progress in the past five weeks than similar projects have done in six months.\u201d<\/p>\n

Britishvolt project director, Ray Macera said:\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cIt\u2019s exciting to be involved in such a strategically important project for Britain\u2019s industrial future.<\/p>\n

\u201cBuilding a gigaplant in Wales is a giant task but with such a focused mission and such strength in depth with the pedigree of Britishvolt\u2019s appointed partners we are already off to a strong start.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new gigaplant is being designed by Italian design experts Pininfarina.<\/p>\n

It is set to be sited on a former RAF base in Bro Tathan, South Wales and will house Britishvolt\u2019s manufacturing and R&D facilities.<\/p>\n
