The Cruden Group<\/a> has welcomed ten new modern apprentices as it continues its commitment to developing Scotland\u2019s young workforce<\/h2>\n

The new modern apprentices will be provided with a range of apprenticeship<\/a> and training programmes.<\/p>\n

The new modern apprentices will become part of the 75 strong team of apprentices that the Cruden Group is currently training, representing over 20% of their trades workforce.<\/p>\n

Cruden has been delivering a modern and graduate apprentice programme for almost 50 years.<\/p>\n

Over 250 young people applied for the roles and, following a series of tests and interviews, ten eager new recruits, have been selected to embark on a four-year modern apprenticeship programme as joiners, painters, plumbers and bricklayers.<\/p>\n

The recruits will learn their chosen trade through practical on the job training, while also working towards a formal qualification.<\/p>\n

Recruiting, retaining and investing in employees<\/h3>\n

Kevin Reid, chief executive of the Cruden Group, said: \u201cThrough our Cruden Academy, we are committed to recruiting, retaining<\/a> and investing in our employees, and our modern apprenticeship programme plays a vital role.<\/p>\n

\u201cYoung people with apprenticeships are amongst the most employable in the country, not to mention becoming equipped with valuable practical skills and a good salary.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the current economic climate, it\u2019s all the more satisfying to start these young people off on their journey towards a rewarding career in a thriving sector.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apprentice painter, Amy Kyle, aged 16, said: \u201cPainting is something I\u2019ve always wanted to do, so I\u2019m delighted to be successful on Cruden\u2019s modern apprenticeship scheme.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to learning new skills, both on-site and in college, and to build my career in construction.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apprentice joiner, Jack Gallacher, aged 21, added: \u201cThrough Action for Children, I carried out a work placement opportunity with Cruden which led to a labourer\u2019s role.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy site manager was so impressed with me that I got the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m over the moon that I\u2019ve been selected for this year\u2019s intake. Getting the chance to work on-site and learn this trade is life-changing and a real dream come true for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
