{"id":81325,"date":"2020-08-24T08:38:22","date_gmt":"2020-08-24T07:38:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=81325"},"modified":"2020-08-24T08:38:22","modified_gmt":"2020-08-24T07:38:22","slug":"uk-road-network-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/uk-road-network-investment\/81325\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a327.4bn roads investment to support 64,000 construction jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/highwaysengland.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Highways England<\/a> has revealed plans for \u00a327.4bn investment in the strategic road network which will support 64,000 construction jobs<\/h2>\n<p>Highways England will deliver \u00a314bn of projects to improve the quality, capacity and safety of the motorways and major A roads that have helped keep the country going during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/covid-19-construction-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Covid-19 pandemic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Almost \u00a311bn will go into improving everyday journeys by repairing and replacing parts of the road network.<\/p>\n<p>Highways England said its plans would support 64,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/construction-jobs\/29942\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">construction jobs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Make journeys faster and more reliable<\/h3>\n<p>Chief executive of Highways England, Jim O\u2019Sullivan, said: \u201cOur network is a vital part of everyone\u2019s life.
