Fuel-poor households are to benefit from a further \u00a316m investment from the Scottish government<\/a> to improve energy efficiency in their homes<\/h2>\n

The money will be used to improve insulation and install energy-efficient heating systems, including those using renewable technology<\/a>, contributing to Scotland\u2019s net-zero targets and helping to meet a key Programme for Government<\/a> commitment.<\/p>\n

Warmer Homes Scotland, the Scottish Government\u2019s national fuel poverty scheme, will receive \u00a36m, while area-based schemes delivered by local authorities will receive \u00a310m.<\/p>\n

A more sustainable home<\/h3>\n

Housing minister, Kevin Stewart, said: \u201cI\u2019m pleased to be this providing additional funding for the area based schemes and Warmer Homes Scotland<\/a>, which between them have supported more than 120,000 households across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis new investment will help to improve the lives of fuel-poor people in Scotland, enabling them to live in warm, comfortable homes and pay less on their fuel bills while living in a greener, more sustainable way.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis funding is expected to help secure up to 200 jobs and means we are investing a total of \u00a397m in grant funding to support fuel-poor households this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elizabeth Woods from Dundee was living with a broken boiler but now has a gas-fired heating system thanks to Warmer Homes Scotland, changing the energy efficiency of her home from Band D to C.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth said: \u201cWe absolutely love when the boiler kicks in and we hear the heating coming on, we get so excited! We were dreading winter this year, but now I can\u2019t actually wait because I will benefit from the new heating system<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s already reduced my monthly bills by \u00a3110 \u2013 that is huge to me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI honestly can\u2019t even find the words to say how thrilled I am with the whole thing, and how professional everyone was from start to finish.\u201d<\/p>\n
