{"id":82707,"date":"2020-09-21T09:21:37","date_gmt":"2020-09-21T08:21:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=82707"},"modified":"2020-09-21T09:21:37","modified_gmt":"2020-09-21T08:21:37","slug":"covid-19-test-centres-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/covid-19-test-centres-contract\/82707\/","title":{"rendered":"Premier Modular wins Covid-19 test centres contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiermodular.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Premier Modular<\/a> has been awarded a multi-million pound contract to provide 25 standalone Covid-19 test centres across the UK<\/h2>\n<p>Premier Modular is very pleased to be playing their part in the national effort to support the NHS in increasing testing capacity in the current pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The first centre arrived on-site in Bolton on 16 September \u2013 and opened on the 17 September to help address the local demand for testing.<\/p>\n<p>Premier Modular\u2019s next site will be Portsmouth.<\/p>\n<p>Procured through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/crown-commercial-service\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Crown Commercial Service<\/a>, the contract involves detailed logistical planning and high-level project management to provide all the facilities required for each test centre \u2013 a 110sqm testing building, offices, staff welfare including canteen and toilets, and all services \u2013 generator, water supplies and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/covid-19-testing-sites\/78874\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">waste management<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is an example of how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/modular-construction-news\/modular-buildings-offsite\/36800\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">modular construction<\/a> can help the NHS respond to changing local needs and an urgent requirement to rapidly increase capacity.<\/p>\n<h3>Nightingale Hospital, Exeter<\/h3>\n<p>The contract follows Premier Modular\u2019s successful delivery of 1700sqm of modular buildings for the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/modular-construction-news\/nightingale-hospital-exeter\/82220\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nightingale Hospital in Exeter<\/a> in just four weeks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/modular-construction-news\/premier-modular-managing-director\/78981\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Harris<\/a>, managing director of Premier Modular, said: \u201cThe level of collaboration on the Nightingale Exeter project to achieve such an ambitious programme was incredible and is a real credit to the UK construction industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are really proud of our teams across the business \u2013 design, production, logistics and on-site \u2013 who pulled out all the stops to reduce the modular build programme from four months to just four weeks.
