Turner & Townsend<\/a> has been appointed to support the construction of 15 modular school buildings, as part of a major education expansion programme in Hamburg<\/h2>\n

SBH Schulbau Hamburg<\/a> appointed Turner & Townsend to provide specialist project and cost management services as well as guidance for the deployment of offsite technologies<\/a> to deliver the buildings within a 15-month timeframe.<\/p>\n

The business worked with SBH Schulbau Hamburg to develop a pilot scheme with a high quality, repeatable blueprint for constructing modular buildings for schools<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The pilot scheme will now inform the larger school building programme which could eventually see up to 36 modular school buildings delivered by 2023.<\/p>\n

The blueprint is based around the schools having a fixed central core encompassing key facilities, surrounded by flexible and adaptable space to allow for the bespoke requirements of each school.<\/p>\n

Adopting offsite construction<\/h3>\n

The use of offsite technology should accelerate the building programme in order to respond to the city\u2019s urgent need for more school capacity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u2018Hamburger Klassenhaus\u2019, a modular solution, plays an important role here.<\/p>\n

“We were able to appoint good partners, including Turner & Townsend as the project management team responsible for the implementation and support these construction projects.\u201d<\/p>\n
