our decisive decade\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>\u2018Now or Never\u2019 will see the company cut all operational carbon emissions to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/net-zero-carbon\/78432\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">zero by 2030<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Now or Never\u2019 strategy also sees the company pledge that its own operations will be zero carbon in ten years\u2019 time and is aiming for its supply chain partners to be net-zero carbon in operation by 2040.<\/p>\n<p>Willmott Dixon has been a net-zero or carbon neutral business since 2012, with all unavoidable carbon emitted each year being off-set by investing in high-quality carbon reduction projects across the world while reducing carbon emissions intensity from its own operations by 61% since 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Now or Never\u2019 strategy is split into three themes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willmottdixon.co.uk\/brilliant-buildings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brilliant Buildings<\/a>, Building Lives and Better Planet, which reflect Willmott Dixon\u2019s aim to deliver low carbon products, protect, nurture and enhance the environment, create better life opportunities for people and leave a positive legacy for future generations to benefit from.<\/p>\n<h3>Targets include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>100,000 trees to be planted by 2030<\/li>\n<li>1,000 people who face major barriers to finding work will be supported in finding long-term careers<\/li>\n<li>All buildings and major refurbishments will be delivered with net-zero embodied carbon by 2040 (with a net reduction in embodied carbon of 55% by 2030 compared to business as usual in 2020)<\/li>\n<li>Improving the lives of 100,000 people through a series of interventions by Willmott Dixon people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Now or Never webinar<\/h3>\n<p>Now or Never is being launched at a <a href=\"https:\/\/us02web.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_t5WE5Lr3SMqWKri46Rd2hw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">webinar<\/a> today (29 September at 11 am), where Rick Willmott will talk about his personal commitment to the strategy before a panel of guest speakers discusses the way forward and takes part in a live Q&amp;A.<\/p>\n<p>The panel consists of sustainability campaigner and co-founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forumforthefuture.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forum for the Future<\/a>, Jonathon Porritt, along with Julia Barrett, Willmott Dixon\u2019s chief sustainability officer and Roger Forsdyke, managing director Willmott Dixon London and South.<\/p>\n<p>The event will be chaired by Nick Molho, executive director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aldersgategroup.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aldersgate Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Tackling the causes of climate change<\/h3>\n<p>Group chief executive, Rick Willmott, said: \u201cWe\u2019ve set some ambitious targets, some of the toughest for the construction sector, as we feel that now is the time for bold action if we are to bequeath future generations a planet not suffering from the consequences of past inaction in tackling the causes of climate change, but instead is one that they can live and thrive in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn laying out our road map for the next decade, we are also setting out how we are going to work with customers, supply chain partners and industry colleagues in creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/reduce-emissions-built-environment\/79092\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">carbon-free construction sector<\/a>, as this is an issue that impacts on everyone, and we\u2019ll need to work together to achieve our common aspirations for a \u2018greener\u2019 built environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Sykes, executive chairman, <a href=\"https:\/\/carbon.ci\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carbon Intelligence<\/a>, said: &#8220;Willmott Dixon has set the most ambitious science-based target in the construction sector by aiming for zero emissions in its operations by 2030 and supply chain by 2040.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Its actions will have a significant influence on reducing the climate impact of the built environment in the UK.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>See Willmott Dixon\u2019s Brilliant Buildings report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willmottdixon.co.uk\/asset\/15521\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mk-custom-module-container\">\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Willmott Dixon is targeting that all new build and refurbishment projects delivered from 2030 will be net-zero carbon under its new 2030 sustainable strategy, \u2018Now or Never;
