U+I<\/a> has revealed new images of its major mixed-use scheme on Greenwich Peninsula which will deliver a new riverside public park, 1,500 homes and employment space<\/h2>\n

Morden Wharf<\/a> is a new mixed-use neighbourhood on Greenwich Peninsula that will deliver more than 6-acres of public realm and a landscaped park along 275m of the River Thames.<\/p>\n

Designed by Office for Metropolitan Architecture<\/a> (OMA), Morden Wharf will include over 3-acres of riverfront park, known as Morden Park.<\/p>\n

The park will lead directly off the Thames Path and will be open to workers, visitors and residents.<\/p>\n

The landscape design is inspired by the site\u2019s history as marshland and will add a significant new ecological resource to the area.<\/p>\n

A new public square that will host seasonal events and markets will be laid out where the Thames Path meets Sea Witch Lane, the main boulevard that runs east to west through the scheme.<\/p>\n

Underground car parking facilities means the public space<\/a> will cater to pedestrians and cyclists.<\/p>\n

The scheme also comprises 12 high quality and tenure-blind residential buildings.<\/p>\n

1,500 homes, of which 35% will be affordable, will include a mix of private sale, shared ownership and London Affordable Rent, which in particular will have a focus on family homes.<\/p>\n

A number of the residential buildings will feature vertical green fa\u00e7ades that will help to provide natural screening and improve air quality.<\/p>\n

U+I\u2019s proposals will also provide a mix of commercial and employment uses that will create around 1,100 new permanent jobs.<\/p>\n

Over 2,400 construction jobs<\/a> will also be generated over the course of the development programme.<\/p>\n

The plans also include a new permanent boat house on an existing jetty, designed by architects Carmody Groarke<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Plans for Morden Wharf were submitted to the Royal Borough of Greenwich<\/a> for approval in June 2020 following extensive consultation with the local community and key stakeholders.<\/p>\n
