{"id":83496,"date":"2020-10-06T09:34:29","date_gmt":"2020-10-06T08:34:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=83496"},"modified":"2020-10-06T09:34:29","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T08:34:29","slug":"brent-cross-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/brent-cross-town\/83496\/","title":{"rendered":"Vision unveiled for \u00a35bn Brent Cross Town"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Developer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.argentrelated.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Argent Related<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnet.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Barnet Council<\/a> have unveiled its vision for the \u00a35bn Brent Cross Town development<\/h2>\n<p>Brent Cross Town\u00a0will be a new\u00a0park town\u00a0for London and will establish a new standard for large-scale <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/rethink-urban-regeneration\/60391\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">urban regeneration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme will transform the area into an inclusive, accessible town centre that will evolve to support the changing demands of modern life in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/education-and-training-post-covid\/82150\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post-Covid world<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brent Cross Town\u00a0will contribute to London\u2019s green economic recovery with sustainability, health and wellbeing and a sense of neighbourliness at its core.<\/p>\n<p>Previously known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/bam-nuttall-brent-cross-south\/56858\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brent Cross South<\/a>, the new development uniquely incorporates 50-acres of parks and playing fields.<\/p>\n<p>Brent Cross Town will deliver 6,700 new homes for sale and for rent and will be a major new office destination.<\/p>\n<p>The development will be a new hub in the capital for state-of-the-art sports and leisure facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Restaurants, retail including local amenities and services, leisure, culture and events will add to the vibrancy of the area.<\/p>\n<p>It will also meet the needs of students with student accommodation and the redevelopment of three local schools.<\/p>\n<h3>Meeting the evolving needs of people, business and environment<\/h3>\n<p>Nick Searl, partner of Argent Related and joint-lead for Brent Cross Town, said:\u00a0\u201cThis is an exciting moment for us and our partners at Barnet Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter several years of careful thought and planning it\u2019s a real privilege to set out our vision for Brent Cross Town, a park town that will support the future of London.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will demand the highest commitments to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/sustainable-buildings-2\/81831\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">health and wellbeing<\/a>, sustainability and ensuring flourishing and connected communities \u2013 which will be measured with our pioneering Flourishing Index.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith so many aspects of our society undergoing change, we will strive to ensure that Brent Cross Town meets the evolving needs of people, business and the environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ken Wong, COO and director of international development at Argent Related, commented:\u00a0\u201cBy combining our global development experience and local insights, Argent Related will set new standards of urban regeneration on this scale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are establishing an ambition for a thriving new town centre that will both inspire and pioneer future ways of living and working and, importantly, one that will stand the test of time and the market\u2019s cycles.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018A once in a lifetime opportunity to respond to changing needs\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Councillor Daniel Thomas, leader of Barnet Council, added:\u00a0\u201cIn partnership with Argent Related we are creating a new town for Barnet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConnected by the new Brent Cross West Station and with an ambition to create 25,000 jobs, excellent schools, and world-class facilities, Brent Cross Town will ensure our new and existing communities thrive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe protection and enhancement of acres of existing green space provides the unique opportunity to create an area that has health, wellbeing and sustainability at the heart of its design.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrent Cross Town is the most ambitious development project the borough has ever seen, and it comes at a time where the coronavirus has changed the way we think, feel and what we want from the place we call home;
