Populo Living<\/a> has appointed Vistry Partnerships<\/a> to deliver its Plaistow Hub regeneration project, a new \u00a362m mixed-use residential scheme in East London<\/h2>\n

The mixed-use Plaistow Hub scheme will create a new piazza and improve the streetscape by linking the locally listed Plaistow Underground Station to the new development and surrounding area.<\/p>\n

Alongside two separate residential buildings, the project includes a new library, neighbourhood centre, supermarket, gym and caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The London Road site is located next to the Underground station and consists of a 23-storey building containing 100 new homes for private rent (many with fabulous views across the city) and a three-storey commercial building<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Working closely alongside Mayor Rokhsana Khan, Populo is committed to ensuring 50% of all the homes it builds are pegged to the London Affordable Rent<\/a> benchmark.<\/p>\n

Newham Council has invested \u00a31.5bn in Populo\u2019s affordable housing projects. They are on course to start on 884 genuinely affordable homes<\/a> by March 2021; helping the Mayor to reach her target of 1,000 genuinely affordable council homes\u00a0by March 2022.<\/p>\n

Valetta Grove situated off Plaistow Road and opposite the Plaistow Station, will be redeveloped to provide 82 new private rental homes over 15 floors.<\/p>\n

Much-needed housing<\/h3>\n

Stephen Teagle, chief executive of Vistry Partnerships, said: \u201cOur appointment to this contract is great news for our London business and we are delighted to be working with Populo Living to deliver much needed high-quality housing within this area of ongoing regeneration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe scheme will provide high quality private rental accommodation that will be owned and managed by Populo Living. With over 2,000m2 of commercial and retail space included, the project will be a huge boost to the local area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deborah Heenan, chief executive of Populo Living, added: \u201cWe are delighted to be starting work on this exciting new project which will benefit the whole of Plaistow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Plaistow Hub project will provide fantastic new community facilities and much-needed housing. It will also help deliver 112 affordable homes in the local area<\/a> thanks to the Mayor\u2019s support for Populo Living.<\/p>\n

“Populo is working alongside the Mayor and Newham Council to deliver over 2,300 affordable homes in the borough and 1,000 new council-owned homes by March 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plaistow Hub will be constructed across two separate sites: London Road and Valetta Grove.<\/p>\n

Construction works will commence on-site immediately and will complete in August 2023.<\/p>\n
