BRE<\/a> has won a joint bid with Advanced Construction Information Development Ltd<\/a> (A.C.I.D.) to expand the delivery of BIM in Hong Kong<\/h2>\n

BRE\u2019s BIM team will help Hong Kong\u2019s BIM local standards align to international BIM standard ISO 19650. This local annex will be utilised by a range of AECO professionals, enhancing the overall standardisation and efficiency of Hong Kong\u2019s BIM industry.<\/p>\n

The fulfilment of this contract will create a local Hong Kong annex to the international standard and lay a solid foundation for the sustainable development of BIM in the region.<\/p>\n

BIM standards<\/a> for Hong Kong were first introduced by the Construction Industry Council<\/a> (CIC) in 2015 and the publication of ISO 19650 in 2018 required a local annex to be introduced.<\/p>\n

CIC,\u00a0as a communication channel between the Government of Hong Kong and the\u00a0industry, aims to be a centre of excellence for BIM and promote wider BIM application.\u00a0Working with CIC, BRE is proud to bring its deep-rooted built environment<\/a> experience in Asia to this strategic project.<\/p>\n

Supporting BIM adoption<\/h3>\n

Stuart Byford, head of BIM at BRE, said: \u201cWe are delighted to have been selected for this exciting project which will have a meaningful impact on sustainable development in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking forward to working with A.C.I.D. to write the enhancement of the BIM Standards for the CIC in Hong Kong that will become the ISO 19650-2 local annex.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe local annex will be adopted by clients, architects, engineers, surveyors, contractors and other professionals within the construction industry in the region, paving the way for government initiatives, building upon and supporting BIM adoption and so enabling alignment with the ISO 19650 approach of information management.\u201d<\/p>\n

David Fung, managing director at A.C.I.D., said: \u201cBIM Mandating in Hong Kong gives a huge momentum to all stakeholders in adopting BIM in local construction industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cCIC\u2019s BIM Standard (General) in 2015 found its need to align itself with latest BIM ISO Standards for an international integration, and at the same time develops into a local annex.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing the first ISO19650-1 and ISO19650-2 certified company in Hong Kong (probably in Asia too) since 2019, A.C.I.D. is delighted to work with BRE BIM experts to enhance the Standard into a new height with an international perspective and bring in new ideas to strengthen the BIM quality.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith engagement of most stakeholders and practitioners in the field, the work represents a collective agreement on efficient BIM implementation.\u201d<\/p>\n
