Milngavie Station as part of a \u00a35m investment to extend the platforms<\/h2>\n<p>Once complete in December this year, the Milngavie Station\u2019s platforms will have been lengthened from 141m to 205m.<\/p>\n<p>The project team installed a new 4m-tall twin-track stanchion to support new overhead line equipment at the remodelled station.<\/p>\n<p>Previous to this, engineers successfully installed new precast platform sections onto the 24-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/steel-frame-construction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">steel foundations<\/a> laid to support the extended infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The works, being undertaken by Network Rail and main contractor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amcogiffen.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AmcoGiffen<\/a>, will also deliver changes to the track and signalling layout at the station.<\/p>\n<p>Extending the platforms will enable the \u2018stabling\u2019 of trains at Milngavie to allow more time between arrivals and departures.<\/p>\n<p>This will help improve the punctual delivery of the timetable and improve service reliability.<\/p>\n<h3>Investing to improve punctuality and reduce delays<\/h3>\n<p>Kevin McClelland, Network Rail route delivery director for capital delivery, said: \u201cOur team has been working hard to deliver this important part of the platform extension project as quickly as possible and with a minimum of disruption for our customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand the inconvenience this work may cause to some passengers and also to our lineside neighbours living closest to the station and I would like to thank them for their cooperation and patience while we deliver this \u00a35m investment in their station.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David Simpson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scotrail.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ScotRail<\/a> operations director, said: \u201cWhen complete, the extension of the platforms will help deliver greater resilience on a significant route on central Scotland\u2019s railway and in doing so, provide improvements in the service we can offer to passengers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone on Scotland\u2019s Railway is working hard to keep the network running during this difficult time for the country and to continually improve the service we offer by investing to improve punctuality and
