{"id":85016,"date":"2020-11-06T13:40:26","date_gmt":"2020-11-06T13:40:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=85016"},"modified":"2020-11-06T13:40:26","modified_gmt":"2020-11-06T13:40:26","slug":"net-zero-carbon-retrofit-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/net-zero-carbon-retrofit-programme\/85016\/","title":{"rendered":"ENGIE to deliver net-zero carbon retrofit programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engie.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ENGIE<\/a> has been appointed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.suttonhousingpartnership.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sutton Housing Partnership<\/a> (SHP) to design, build and deliver a programme, which will transform existing properties across London into low maintenance, net-zero carbon homes<\/h2>\n<p>ENGIE will utilise its recently launched whole house retrofit model &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.engie.co.uk\/about-engie\/making-zero-carbon-happen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ENGIE Zero<\/a>&#8216; to deliver a pilot project to an initial eight homes in one of the first schemes of its type within the London boundary, which is part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.london.gov.uk\/what-we-do\/environment\/energy\/energy-buildings\/energy-leap-project-pilots#:~:text=The%20Mayor%20has%20allocated%20%C2%A3,on%20a%20significantly%20greater%20scale.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mayor of London\u2019s Energy Leap Initiative<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>ENGIE Zero offers a one-stop-shop for local authorities, housing associations and registered providers to decentralise, digitalise and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/zero-carbon-homes-2\/83697\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decarbonise homes<\/a> in a way that is derived from the Energiesprong performance standard.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/engie-refit-framework\/78050\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Energy efficiency measures<\/a> delivered by ENGIE for SHP will include an airtight wrap to the eight selected properties, as well as installing a pre-fabricated super-insulated facade and roof system with integrated solar PV panels to generate electricity at the point of use.<\/p>\n<p>New high-performance windows and doors will replace older models and air source heat pumps will also introduce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/solar-farm-at-tye-lane\/84145\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">renewable heating<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These works coupled with a real-time monitoring and maintenance programme will ensure occupant satisfaction and building energy performance.<\/p>\n<p>The initial eight pilot units have the potential to pave the way for zero\u00a0energy\u00a0retrofitting at scale, radically changing the approach to\u00a0energy\u00a0efficiency and helping eradicate fuel poverty.<\/p>\n<p>Planning approval has been granted and ENGIE will deliver the initial construction works over the coming months.<\/p>\n<h3>Helping Sutton meet its aim of becoming carbon-neutral<\/h3>\n<p>James Cook, divisional director for ENGIE UK &amp; Ireland, said: <em>\u201c<\/em>Our principal goal as an organisation, is to support our partners across both the public and private sector to meet their net-zero ambitions and offer viable solutions which will support them in achieving this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is why we brought the ENGIE Zero offer to market. We have utilised the <a href=\"https:\/\/energiesprong.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Energiesprong<\/a> model for other clients in the UK and delivered some of the country\u2019s first zero-carbon homes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to putting our expertise into practice for SHP;
