{"id":85064,"date":"2020-11-09T15:30:42","date_gmt":"2020-11-09T15:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=85064"},"modified":"2020-11-09T15:30:42","modified_gmt":"2020-11-09T15:30:42","slug":"innovation-accelerator-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction-news\/construction-technology-news\/innovation-accelerator-initiative\/85064\/","title":{"rendered":"Five more tech firms join HS2 Innovation Accelerator initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hs2.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HS2 Ltd<\/a> has announced the names of the\u00a0five\u00a0new\u00a0cutting-edge tech firms that will join its\u00a0Innovation Accelerator programme<\/h2>\n<p>All five firms start their HS2 development work\u00a0in\u00a0November and will continue to work through to March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>After\u00a0four\u00a0months of development <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/hs2-innovation-accelerator-2\/82367\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inside the Accelerator<\/a>, the firms\u2019 solutions will be showcased and pitched to industry investors and HS2&#8217;s supply chain, consisting of the thousands of companies ranging from the largest international engineers to specialist suppliers to the project.<\/p>\n<h3>At the forefront of the innovative ideas<\/h3>\n<p>Introducing the second cohort to HS2\u2019s Accelerator programme, HS2 Ltd innovation manager Rob Cairns, said:\u00a0\u201cWe are drawing on the very best of British innovation and skills to ensure the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/government-commitment-hs2\/54648\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UK\u2019s investment in HS2<\/a> not only delivers an outstanding\u00a0high speed\u00a0rail network, but also builds a sound economic legacy that generates prosperity after the railway\u2019s construction is complete.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHS2 is already providing thousands of contract opportunities for businesses around Britain, creating thousands of jobs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese five firms are at the forefront of the innovative ideas, and we look forward to working with them to realise their ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The five companies are:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalrail.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Digital Rail<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/hypervine.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hypervine<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raildiary.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rail\u00a0Diary<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/gridsmartercities.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Grid Smarter Cities\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/openspaceworld.org\/wp2\/what-is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Open Space<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Digital Rail\u00a0is developing technology that helps to provide independence to passengers\u00a0with a mobility impairment\u00a0arriving at stations.<\/p>\n<p>Its\u00a0RailSightAssist\u00a0is an app-based computer vision solution that detects wheelchairs, bicycles,\u00a0pushchairs, heavy luggage, partially sighted or blind passengers when they arrive and alerts station staff to\u00a0provide assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Hypervine\u2019s app-based technology enables construction contractors to become more agile by quantifying through a single \u201cdashboard\u201d work across site activities and to compare actual performance against planned work, and identify where efficiencies can be made, generating both cost and carbon savings.<\/p>\n<p>Rail\u00a0Diary\u00a0creates digital site diaries and reporting software tailored to the rail construction industry.
