DEF Software<\/a> is collaborating with Telford & Wrekin Council<\/a> to create and launch a new back office development platform which will result in the next generation of planning and building control software<\/h2>\n

Telford & Wrekin has instructed DEF Software to write the new system, which will be a true web-based application.<\/p>\n

The building control<\/a> software will be easy to deploy, access and will be completely customisable for the Authority, it will also have the ability to be accessed on any device in any location, promoting mobile working<\/a> through on-site data capture.<\/p>\n

DEF Software is aiming to re-create the speed and functionality of existing on-premise planning application platforms<\/a>, which is something other web-based planning systems have not been able to achieve.<\/p>\n

The redesigned web-based system will put the user right in the centre of the software by offering the users entire toolset in one place and creating better workflows as a result.<\/p>\n

Desperate need for modernisation<\/h3>\n

A spokesperson for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: \u201cWe are looking forward to creating the next generation planning and building control system which will improve the functionality of the service, benefitting both officers and the public and providing a better user experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognised that DEF Software share the same desire and commitment to make a real positive change in the marketplace.<\/p>\n

“It is also coming at a time when the planning landscape<\/a> is changing, and we will be in the right position to bring these all on board.\u201d<\/p>\n

Graeme Cooke, commercial director at DEF Software, added: \u201cSome of the software used to determine planning applications is decades old, and there is a desperate need for modernisation which simply isn\u2019t being addressed in our industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis solution will challenge everything that planning software should be.<\/p>\n

“Having Telford & Wrekin on board as not only a customer, but as a strategic consultant, means the software will be extremely reactive to the needs of planners in local authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n
