rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fujitec UK Ltd<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kone.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kone Plc<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.otis.com\/en\/uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Otis Ltd<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schindler.com\/uk\/internet\/en\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Schindler Ltd<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thyssenkrupp-elevator.com\/uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thyssenkrupp Elevator UK Ltd<\/a> have been invited to tender for two separate packages covering lifts and escalators.<\/p>\n<p>The contract is divided into two separate packages for lifts worth up to \u00a3267m and escalators worth up to \u00a3198m, with the winners appointed to frameworks.<\/p>\n<p>Around 160 lifts and 130 escalators will be installed across the project.<\/p>\n<p>All the new stations in London and Birmingham will be zero carbon in terms of day-to-day operation, and fully accessible, with step-free access from street to train.<\/p>\n<p>Placed end to end, the escalators would stretch more than 3km \u2013 longer than the Forth Rail Bridge.<\/p>\n<p>The longest escalators will be at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/old-oak-common-station\/76436\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Old Oak Common<\/a>, in west London, which will take passengers 13.5m up from the subsurface platforms to concourse level.<\/p>\n<p>Energy efficient lifts and escalators are a key part of achieving these ambitious environmental standards.<\/p>\n<h3>Ensuring seamless journeys<\/h3>\n<p>HS2 Ltd\u2019s procurement and commercial director, David Poole, said: \u201cThis invitation to tender is a key step forward in the delivery of HS2\u2019s four iconic new railway stations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lifts and escalators our partners go on to deliver will be at the heart of the operation, moving hundreds of thousands of people every day and helping us to ensure seamless journeys for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Contracts are expected to be awarded next year and the value includes
