talks<\/h2>\n<p>LHC is hosting a session looking at the \u2018benefits and challenges of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/modular-construction-news\/mmc-social-housing-2\/84445\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">implementing MMC<\/a> in the development of new and affordable social housing\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Woods, group technical manager at LHC, will be leading the discussion on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/homesevent.co.uk\/conference-programme\/modern-methods-of-construction-benefits-and-challenges-of-implementation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u2018Future of Living\u2019<\/a>\u00a0stage at 12pm on Wednesday 2 December.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Dawson, group technical manager at LHC, will be leading the \u2018Social Housing: rising to the net zero carbon challenge\u2019 session discussing the challenges social housing providers face when trying to meet net-zero carbon emission targets.<\/p>\n<p>Paul\u2019s talk will be on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/homesevent.co.uk\/conference-programme\/social-housing-rising-to-the-net-zero-carbon-challenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u2018Sustainable Futures\u2019<\/a>\u00a0stage at 2pm on Thursday 3 December.<\/p>\n<h3>LHC\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lhc.gov.uk\/frameworks\/energy-efficiency\/energy-efficiency-measures-associated-works-n8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Energy Efficiency Measures and Associated Works<\/a>\u00a0(N8) framework<\/h3>\n<p>The framework launched earlier this month to help local authorities, social landlords and other public bodies to source specialist suppliers who can install a variety of carbon-cutting improvement measures for domestic and public buildings and can also carry out any associated repairs and retrofit work.<\/p>\n<p>The framework\u00a0covers the procurement of 21 individual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/social-housing-energy\/85832\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">energy efficiency measures<\/a> across the UK as well as providing a multi-disciplinary offer.<\/p>\n<p>The Energy Efficiency Consultancy Services (N8C) framework, launched on 1 June 2020, complements the N8 framework to help contracting authorities to source firms that specialise in energy efficiency.<\/p>\n<h3>Adopting greater use of MMC<\/h3>\n<p>John Skivington, group director of LHC, said: \u201cOf its 54-year history, LHC has over 28 years\u2019 experience specifically in the energy efficiency sector, helping contracting authorities implement technical building measures and home improvement programmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are acutely aware of the impact of multiple pressures on social landlords, not least the need for a \u2018whole house\u2019 approach to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/building-decarbonisation\/74802\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decarbonisation<\/a> and retrofit, the drive to adopt greater use of MMC in newbuild, and the overarching need to keep all residents safe and well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team at this event will be offering their advice and support, and we will be encouraging all of our local authority and housing association partners to tune in for these essential sessions.\u201d<\/p>\n<div
