Amey<\/a> has secured a \u00a3180m Area 12 maintenance and response contract to upkeep the trunk roads and motorway network covering Yorkshire and Humberside<\/h2>\n

Highways England<\/a> awarded the contract to Amey \u2013 which will see the infrastructure provider responsible for the network covering Yorkshire and Humberside.<\/p>\n

Responsible for incident management, defect rectification and responding to severe weather, the teams will also oversee traffic management during incidents and the operation of the ten maintenance depots in the region.<\/p>\n

Maintaining safe roads<\/h3>\n

Richard Marshall, Highways England regional director for Yorkshire and the North East, said:\u00a0\u201cOur roads are among the safest in the world and partnerships like this will help maintain high standards.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy strengthening our ties with the supply chain<\/a> who carry out maintenance and respond to incidents we can work more effectively, identify innovative ways of working and provide drivers with the best possible quality of service.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to welcome Amey to our Yorkshire asset delivery community.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe already have a good relationship with them thanks to our partnership work in other regions, and this latest collaboration can only enhance our regional expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n

The network spans 1,650km of motorway, 476km of trunk road (dual), 179km of trunk road (single carriageway) and 1,963 structures.<\/p>\n

Bringing transportation expertise to Yorkshire and Humberside<\/h3>\n

Peter Anderson, managing director of\u00a0transport infrastructure at Amey, commented:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m delighted to be able to bring our highways and transportation expertise to Yorkshire and Humberside through securing Highways England Area 12 contract.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the coming months, my team and I are looking forward to continue to work collaboratively with Highways England, building on experience from our successful Area 7 and Area 10 M&R contracts and our North East regional technology maintenance contract, \u00a0to deliver the services effectively and efficiently with the highest levels of safety and ensuring customer focussed outcomes on Area 12.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amey will ensure that 85% of any new recruits to the contract will be from Yorkshire and Humberside, as well as ensuring that 5% of its workforce will be apprentices<\/a> or graduates.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0eight-year\u00a0contract worth \u00a322.5m per annum,\u00a0will commence in June.<\/p>\n
