to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arup<\/a> has signed up to the <a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/climate-action\/race-to-zero-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Race to Zero<\/a>, a global campaign to rally businesses, cities, regions and investors to take action for a healthy, resilient, zero-carbon recovery that prevents future threats and create jobs<\/h2>\n<p>Race to Zero commits members to achieve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/futureproofing-developments\/84008\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">net-zero emissions\u00a0by 2050<\/a> at the very latest to limit global temperature rise to 1.5oC above preindustrial levels.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year Arup committed to achieving net-zero emissions across its entire operations by 2030, reducing its scope 1, 2 and 3 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/greenhouse-gas-emissions\/81176\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">greenhouse gas emissions<\/a> by 30% within the next five years and set out a plan of how this would be achieved.<\/p>\n<p>This target has been classified as ambitious by the Science Based Target initiative as it exceeds the minimum requirements for keeping global temperature rise under 1.5oc.<\/p>\n<p>Arup is working with organisations including the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arup.com\/our-firm\/arup-partnerships\/ellen-macarthur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ellen MacArthur Foundation<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arup.com\/our-firm\/arup-partnerships\/c40\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group\u00a0<\/a>and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development to innovate and accelerate new approaches and business models to help the world decarbonise.<\/p>\n<p>The firm is also working with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sitecore.arup.com\/news-and-events\/arup-joins-race-to-zero-as-it-looks-to-net-zero-emissions-by-2030\">The Resilience Shift\u00a0<\/a>and the Global Resilient Cities Network to enhance the resilience of cities and communities to increasing shocks and stresses resulting from climate change, including drought, water scarcity and food supply disruption.<\/p>\n<h3>Accelerating the transition to a net-zero resilient world<\/h3>\n<p>Jo Da Silva, Arup sustainable development leader, said: \u201cWe are a year away from the long awaited COP26 and the momentum on global <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/carbon-emissions-from-buildings\/84234\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">climate change action<\/a> is growing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all need to join the Race to Zero if we are to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In Arup\u2019s own operations, the projects we work on and the advice we give to clients, we are committed to seizing every opportunity to accelerate the transition to a net-zero resilient world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UK High-Level climate action champion for COP26, Nigel Topping, added: \u201cI recently spoke to people across Arup and felt their energy and drive to take action on climate change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is great to see an industry leader like Arup join the Race to Zero, committing to rapid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/construction-decarbonisation\/86101\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decarbonisation<\/a> of their own operations alongside promoting and implementing low-carbon and resilient solutions in the work they do with clients around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mk-custom-module-container\">\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arup has signed up to the Race to Zero, a global campaign to rally businesses, cities, regions and investors to take action for a healthy, resilient, zero-carbon recovery that prevents future threats and create jobs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[307],"tags":[566,693,279,93645,465,802],"stakeholder_rel_tag":[],"contributor_rel_tag":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-86484","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-energy-news","7":"tag-air-quality","8":"tag-climate-change","9":"tag-environment","10":"tag-net-zero","11":"tag-sustainable-construction","12":"tag-water-management"},"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.9 (Yoast SEO v26.9) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Arup joins &#039;Race to Zero&#039;
