{"id":87106,"date":"2021-01-08T10:02:50","date_gmt":"2021-01-08T10:02:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=87106"},"modified":"2021-01-08T10:02:50","modified_gmt":"2021-01-08T10:02:50","slug":"teviot-estate-regeneration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/teviot-estate-regeneration\/87106\/","title":{"rendered":"Residents choose Hill to deliver Teviot estate regeneration"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"MsoNormal\">Housebuilder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hill.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hill<\/a> has been selected as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poplarharca.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Poplar HARCA\u2019s<\/a> <span style=\"mso-bidi-font-weight: bold;\">development partner to deliver <\/span>2,500 new homes as part of the Teviot estate regeneration in Tower Hamlets<\/h2>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Housing association Poplar HARCA has appointed Hill to deliver the Teviot Estate regeneration in Tower Hamlets, which could include more than 2,500 new homes, new green and play spaces, shops, community and faith facilities, and improved infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">On an 81% turnout, 86% of residents backed proposals for regenerating the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/estate-residents-in-london-will-be-balloted-on-regeneration-projects\/38307\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">estate in a ballot<\/a> last year. Since then, a steering group of residents and an independent advisor have led the procurement process to select a preferred developer from five initial bidders.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"MsoNormal\">\u2018Ensuring the community voice is heard\u2019<\/h3>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Paul Mancrief, Resident Steering Group member, said: \u201cAs I have been part of an active community for over forty five years, I naturally got involved in the process of selecting a joint development partner to build a new Teviot Estate, ensuring the community voice is heard with aspirations and ideas towards a positive built outcome.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHill were found to be very knowledgeable with regard to the area, the issues Teviot currently faces and were full of practical ways to overcome them both now and in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Steve Stride, chief executive of Poplar HARCA, commented: \u201cHill demonstrated a complete alignment with the community and our vision for the Teviot regeneration to be a \u201cbest in class\u201d exemplar for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/rethink-urban-regeneration\/60391\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">urban regeneration<\/a>, putting residents and stakeholders at its heart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHill provided an exceptional social value offer and illustrated a well thought through and realistic commercial bid, which balanced pragmatism with some exciting innovations and opportunities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019re confident this partnership will leave a positive legacy for those living and working in East London.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Hill will deliver a comprehensive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/social-value-architecture\/66645\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social value<\/a> package for the community over the lifetime of the development, including employment and training opportunities, enhancing of community facilities and contributing to existing services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">There will also be extensive infrastructure investment to better connect the Teviot Estate to surrounding areas and transport hubs.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Residents\u2019 ambitions at the heart of the plans\u2019<\/h3>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Andy Hill, chief executive at Hill, added: \u201cWe are proud to be selected to bringing pride and vibrancy to the area for existing and future residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Poplar HARCA and Hill, in consultation with the Residents Steering Group, will now appoint a master planner with residents in early 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A planning application to the local authority is expected to be finalised in mid-late 2022.<\/p>\n<div
