Engineering<\/a> will play a key role in building the college\u2019s new campus thanks to a partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willmottdixon.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Willmott Dixon<\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Willmott Dixon, who was awarded the \u00a354m <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/manchester-college-strategy\/80673\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">contract for the project in August 2020<\/a>, is sponsoring the students\u2019 on the Architectural &amp; Construction Engineering (ACE) Scholarship programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">As well as the Industry Excellence Academy for Creative and Digital Industries, the new campus will also become the home of UCEN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thearden.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arden School of Theatre and Manchester Film School<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">During the two year course, the students will spend at least 90 days on an industry placement with Willmott Dixon, gaining experience in all aspects of the company, from winning work in the new business, preconstruction and design teams, to delivering quality projects with operations and commercial and finding out about all the innovative and sustainability-driven support and customer teams that set the business apart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Their classroom-based learning will feature relevant modules, co-developed and co-delivered by Willmott Dixon, to help fill skills gaps in the industry, alongside additional workshops specifically focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/construction-training-london\/87628\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">helping the students\u2019 personal development<\/a> and life skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This initiative forms part of Willmott Dixon&#8217;s overall purpose, which is to deliver brilliant buildings, transform lives, strengthen communities and enhance the environment so the world is fit for future generations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>&#8216;O<span class=\"s1\">pportunities for generations of Mancunians&#8217;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Anthony Dillon, managing director for Willmott Dixon in the North, said: \u201cThe city centre campus will educate and create exciting opportunities for generations of Mancunians so we\u2019re proud to say these eager and conscientious students will play a part in helping our teams deliver it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cOur industry needs more skilled people, and this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmc.ac.uk\/news\/ace-scholarship-pre-entry-summer-school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ACE Scholarship<\/a>, and partnership with The Manchester College, is an outstanding example of how industry and educators can work together to inspire the next generation, create opportunities and develop the construction workers of the future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Chris Wright, assistant principal at The Manchester College, added: <\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWe are delighted that Willmott Dixon, as one of the country\u2019s leading businesses in the construction sector, are investing in developing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/younger-generation\/45108\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">next generation of talent<\/a> for the sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;Working on the new city centre campus will enable our students to gain experience of a wide variety of techniques many of which are at the cutting edge of how the construction sector will be operating for years to come. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;While developing these skills it is also fantastic that our students will be able to point at a building that will be a mainstay of the Manchester skyline for years to come and say \u2018I helped build that\u2019.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">Upon completion of the course, the students will gain a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Construction and Built Environment, an industry and university-recognised qualification equivalent to three A Levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"mk-custom-module-container\">\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students from The Manchester College\u2019s Industry Excellence Academy for Construction &#038;
