Highways<\/a> has landed a \u00a3200m maintenance and management contract for <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Transport for London\u2019s<\/a> (TfL) road tunnels and pumping stations<\/h2>\n<p>The new maintenance and management contract will commence in April 2021 and run for eight years, with the option to extend by a further four years.<\/p>\n<p>The contract includes the maintenance of TfL\u2019s road tunnels and highway pump stations, including mechanical, electrical and control activities associated with each tunnel, renewals, safety inspections, intelligent transport systems (ITS) and cleaning.<\/p>\n<p>The maintenance and management contract will play an important role in helping TfL tackle some of the biggest challenges its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/transport-infrastructure-innovation\/85649\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transport network<\/a> faces, including reducing road danger and congestion.<\/p>\n<p>As part of this contract, Kier will be responsible for maintaining and managing 10 tunnels and 106 pump stations.<\/p>\n<h3>The tunnels maintained under the new contract include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A102 Blackwall Northbound<\/li>\n<li>A102 Blackwall Southbound<\/li>\n<li>A101 Rotherhithe<\/li>\n<li>A12 Green Man<\/li>\n<li>A12 George Green<\/li>\n<li>A12 Eastway<\/li>\n<li>A3211 Upper Thames Street<\/li>\n<li>A2 Eltham Tunnel<\/li>\n<li>A406 Fore Street, and<\/li>\n<li>A40 Hangar Lane.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new contract will also see the management of all of TfL&#8217;s tunnels, including its tunnel river crossings, brought into the same team, with maintenance for all tunnels being delivered by Kier.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Keeping London moving\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Group managing director at Kier Highways, Joe Incutti, said: \u201cAs TfL moves into a number of new contracts for the maintenance and management of the strategic road network in our capital city, we look forward to continuing our established working relationship with TfL through the delivery of this prestigious new noreferrer\">supply chain<\/a> partners, we will continue to leverage our collective tunnel expertise in the capital to work collaboratively with TfL towards its goal of keeping London people get around the capital safely, whether they are walking, cycling, getting the bus or driving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new contract with Kier will help us to ensure that these important tunnels on
