HS2 Ltd\u202fhas\u202flaunched\u202fa\u202fbrand-new\u202fjobs site\u202fto promote the\u202festimated\u202f20,000 roles that phase one of the project\u202fis expected to create in the months and years ahead<\/h2>\n

The new digital platform<\/a>\u202foffers those looking for work or a change of career, the opportunity to search the very latest vacancies\u202fwith HS2\u2019s construction partners and station contractors delivering the London \u2013 Birmingham section of the railway.<\/p>\n

The jobs board is the first time that opportunities to work on HS2, within\u202fthe \u202fsupply\u202fchain,\u202fhave been brought together in one place, making it easier for job seekers to navigate and find a job that matches their career aspirations.<\/p>\n

HS2\u202fLtd’s\u202fnew\u202fjobs board been developed\u202fas part of a\u202fjob brokerage\u202fpartnership model, which brings together local authorities, enterprise partnerships, charities and employment support services along the 140-mile route of the\u202ffirst phase of the new\u202frailway.<\/p>\n

HS2\u2019s\u202fjob brokerage partners will\u202fplay an integral role in supporting individuals from local communities,\u202fdisadvantaged\u202fand\u202funderrepresented\u202fgroups into employment\u202fon the project, in line with objectives set out in HS2\u202fLtd\u2019s\u202fSkills, Employment and Education Strategy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

HS2 has already supported\u202f13,000 jobs, including over\u202f 400\u202f new apprenticeship starts<\/a> and\u202fover 550\u202findividuals\u202fwho were previously unemployed.<\/p>\n

Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, HS2\u202fLtd\u202fand its contractors have also supported over 100\u202fwork experience placements, in a bid to ensure that individuals are actively engaged with the programme and have the very best opportunity to capitalise on future career<\/a> openings.<\/p>\n

The\u202fstart\u202fof main construction\u202fworks\u202fin September\u202f2020\u202fwas a catalyst for\u202fthe project,\u202fspearheading\u202f\u00a312bn of contract opportunities\u202fwhich\u202fBritish businesses\u202fare beginning to bid for.<\/p>\n

As HS2\u2019s tier-one contractors begin the process of procuring the suppliers and services they need to deliver their work packages, the number of\u202fjob opportunities\u202fon the project\u202fwill grow.<\/p>\n

This heightened demand has created new career pathways\u202fand long-term career prospects\u202ffor individuals at all levels, in both blue and white-collar roles.<\/p>\n

Connecting people to fresh possibilities<\/h3>\n

Minister for employment, Mims Davies, said: \u201cAs we look ahead, helping so many people to secure new employment is vital to our recovery and is exactly why we\u2019ve invested \u00a330bn in our Plan for Jobs<\/a> to protect, support and create opportunities across our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

HS2 minister Andrew Stephenson, commented: \u201cHS2 will play a vital role in kickstarting the UK\u2019s economic recovery as we build back better from Covid-19. In fact, it is already doing so, with 13,000 jobs supported so far.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d encourage anyone who is interested in working on the UK\u2019s largest infrastructure project to check the new HS2 jobs board, whether you work in health and safety, engineering, catering, logistics, or the many other sectors where HS2 is already creating huge opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate Myers, HS2\u202fLtd\u2019s\u202fhead of skills, employment and education, added: \u201cHS2 has a crucial role to play in the UK\u2019s economic recovery and fightback from Covid-19<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are creating and sustaining thousands of jobs in the UK starting right now when people need them most.<\/p>\n
