Council<\/a> has given the green light for plans to deliver 4,500 new homes at Waterbeach New Town East<\/h2>\n<p>Acting as planning consultants on behalf of RLW Estates \u2013 a consortium comprising Royal London, St John\u2019s College, Cambridge and Turnstone Estates \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boyerplanning.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boyer<\/a> submitted the outline planning application and took a lead role in negotiations and engagement with a range of stakeholders.<\/p>\n<h3>The Waterbeach New Town East scheme will deliver:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>4,500 new homes, providing a wide range of types from one-bed apartments to five-bed homes, ensuring a variety of homes for all requirements<\/li>\n<li>30% <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/affordable-housing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">affordable housing<\/a> provision<\/li>\n<li>A masterplan approach based around the concept of \u2018sociable streets\u2019, designed to create neighbourhoods that prioritise cyclists and pedestrians over the car<\/li>\n<li>Contributions towards and direct provision of local infrastructure totalling over \u00a3100m<\/li>\n<li>Education facilities comprising one secondary school, two primary schools and a sixth-form centre<\/li>\n<li>Over 35 hectares of open space, including a 20-acre country park<\/li>\n<li>24,800 sqm of employment space, plus additional retail and community space.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u2018Creating an environmentally conscious development\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Chris Goldsmith of <a href=\"http:\/\/turnstoneestates.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Turnstone Estates<\/a>, said: \u201cI am delighted that the planning committee of South Cambridgeshire District Council granted permission today for our application to create a vibrant, sustainable new town of 4,500 homes at Waterbeach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are committed to delivering a new community that will place cyclists and pedestrians at its heart, creating an environmentally conscious and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/futureproofing-developments\/84008\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">future-proofed development<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLocated just 5km north of Cambridge, we will help to meet the growing housing demand in the City and Cambridgeshire through a wide mix of housing styles and tenures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlongside the permission today we also have consent to relocate the existing station at Waterbeach village to Waterbeach New Town East.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIts delivery is crucial for ensuring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/garden-cities-sustainable-transport\/84025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sustainable transport<\/a> options from day one and we now look forward to working with our partners to bring the plans forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waterbeach New Town East will be developed alongside the consented scheme at Waterbeach
