review of construction frameworks launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Professor David Mosey of King\u2019s College London has been appointed to lead an independent review of public sector construction frameworks<\/h2>\n<p>The independent review into construction frameworks is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/construction-playbook-platform\/88160\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction Playbook<\/a> programme.<\/p>\n<p>The review recognises the potential of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/construction-framework-provider\/77833\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">construction frameworks<\/a> as a powerful engine-room for implementing\u00a0Construction Playbook\u00a0policies that include strategic planning, integrated teams, continuous improvement and the delivery of better, safer, faster and greener project outcomes.<\/p>\n<h3>The framework review will lead to recommendations for:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The components of a \u2018gold standard\u2019 against which new proposed frameworks and framework contracts can be measured<\/li>\n<li>Standard contract terms that support the new gold standard<\/li>\n<li>Training packages to enable adoption of the new gold standard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This will enable contracting authorities to easily identify those frameworks which meet best practices and embody the policies set out in the playbook.<\/p>\n<p>The Construction Playbook was launched on 8 December 2020 containing 14 key policy reforms to enable \u2018faster, better, greener\u2019 construction by transforming how we assess, procure and deliver public works projects and programmes.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Provide clear drivers\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>The government said: \u201cAcross the public and private sectors, there are a wide variety of frameworks and a lack of clear guidance as to their preferred structure and \u2018best practice\u2019 features.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, the potential of frameworks is not always well expressed or well understood and they are not always successful in delivering their aims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecommendations for the adoption and use of the most suitable framework structures and features are necessary in order to provide clear drivers that will deliver the policies set out in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/modular-construction-news\/construction-playbook-mmc\/87747\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction Playbook<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<div
