receive second round of potholes fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>In the second of five instalments from the \u00a32.5bn Potholes Fund, councils across England have been allocated their share of \u00a3500m for highways maintenance<\/h2>\n<p>The potholes fund is expected to fix the equivalent of 10 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/fund-boosted-to-repair-potholes-following-winter-damage\/39796\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">potholes across the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This second instalment provides funding between 2020\/21 and 2024\/25 and is part of wider funding the DfT provides for road maintenance, totalling over \u00a31.1bn across England in 2021\/22.<\/p>\n<p>The average pothole costs around \u00a350 to fill \u2013 this means the funding has the potential to rectify 10 million potholes.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Helping councils ensure roads are kept up to standard\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Transport minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/baroness-vere-of-norbiton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Baroness Vere<\/a>, said: \u201cWe know potholes are more than just a nuisance \u2013 they can be dangerous to drivers and cyclists alike, and cause damage to thousands of vehicles every year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe funding allocated today will help councils ensure roads in their area are kept up to standard, and that the potholes that blight road users can be dealt with
