It seats 40,000 spectators in tournament mode and will be used up the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup, after which it will be converted to 20,000 seats to be used by the Al Wakrah Sports Club.<\/p>\n<p>The design is inspired by the rich heritage of Qatar and the Al Wakrah region. The roof is made of two symmetrical parts, each side composed of three shells, inspired by the hulls of dhows turned upside down to create cover and shelter.<\/p>\n<p>Inside, the boat reference is carried through an expressed ceiling structure from engineered timber that strongly resembles a skeleton of a traditional dhow hull.<\/p>\n<p>The upper tiers of the stadium were designed to be removable after the tournament.
