(TfL) has awarded five new contracts as part of its Surface Transport Infrastructure Construction Framework<\/h2>\n<p>TfL\u2019s Surface Transport Infrastructure Construction Framework will help ensure walking and cycling projects continue to keep the capital\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/road-improvements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">road network<\/a> well-maintained and safe.<\/p>\n<p>The new contracts will be used to deliver schemes to boost walking and cycling across the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN), including future projects to expand London&#8217;s growing network of high-quality Cycleways.<\/p>\n<p>These projects will help to cut congestion, air pollution and road danger across London.<\/p>\n<p>The new Surface Transport Infrastructure Construction Framework contracts also cover renewals work on much of the infrastructure that the Transport for London Road Network depends on, including its bridges, road tunnels and river assets.<\/p>\n<p>Renewals work typically takes place every few years and is more significant than day to day maintenance, for which separate contracts are awarded.<\/p>\n<p>The contracts also cover the construction of enhancements to these assets where needed.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/public-sector-contract\/88785\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Contractors<\/a> will be asked to deliver early input, design and construction work through the framework.<\/p>\n<h3>The five companies awarded contracts as part of the framework are:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.costain.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Costain Limited\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurovia.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eurovia Infrastructure Limited\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmconway.co.uk\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FM Conway Limited<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Tarmac Kier JV<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.volkerfitzpatrick.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VolkerFitzpatrick Limited<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\u2018Deliver vital walking and cycling schemes\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Nick\u00a0Fairholme, TfL&#8217;s director of project and programme delivery, said:\u00a0&#8220;Our network of red routes are the arteries of London&#8217;s road network and play a vital role in helping people get around the capital safely, whether they are walking, cycling, getting the bus or driving.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This new contract framework will help us to deliver further\u00a0vital walking and cycling schemes across London, and\u00a0ensure that these important <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/digital-map-underground-assets\/80196\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">infrastructure assets<\/a> on our road network are safe and well maintained for years to come.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sue Kershaw, managing director of transportation at Costain, commented:\u00a0&#8220;We have a long-standing relationship with Transport for London, and we will continue to work together closely over the next six years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a trusted partner to TfL, we will carry out renewals work on complex infrastructure within the Transport for London Road Network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrawing on our extensive experience of complex programme delivery, our consultancy capability and digital DNA, we will optimise effectiveness and maximise value to TfL and its users.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>John Cox, managing director of VolkerFitzpatrick&#8217;s rail and infrastructure business, added:\u00a0&#8220;We are delighted to be appointed to deliver this significant piece of surface <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/transport-infrastructure-innovation\/85649\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transport infrastructure<\/a> and are looking forward to working closely with TfL over the next six years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team will help to deliver key projects across the network, Infrastructure Construction Framework will run for six years from April 2021 until March 2027.<\/p>\n<div
