Plans for Everton FC\u2019s<\/a> new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, along with a community-led legacy project at Goodison Park, have been unanimously approved<\/h2>\n

Liverpool City Council\u2019s<\/a> planning committee hosted a special meeting, with Everton CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale and stadium development director Colin Chong presenting Everton\u2019s plans for Bramley-Moore Dock<\/a> and Goodison Park.<\/p>\n

The two-hour meeting ended with the councillors confirming their approval for the plans.<\/p>\n

The proposals equate to a \u00a3750m investment, with the potential to create up to 15,000 jobs.<\/p>\n

The decision to grant approval for a new 52,888-capacity waterfront Bramley-Moore Dock stadium and the outline application for a \u00a382m scheme to redevelop Goodison Park brings both projects a significant step closer.<\/p>\n

\u2018A dynamic catalyst to regenerate this neglected part of Liverpool\u2019<\/h3>\n

Councillor Wendy Simon, acting mayor of Liverpool, said: \u201cI welcome the planning committee\u2019s resolution to approve Everton FC\u2019s application<\/a> to build a new stadium on Bramley Moore Dock.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club has undertaken a huge amount of work to understand the many ecological, transport and heritage issues connected to this site and I applaud their approach to listen to all the relevant bodies to help inform their design.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis resolution to approve is a big step forward for the club to realise a 25-year dream to relocate from Goodison Park, and this development would unquestionably be a dynamic catalyst for our wider ambition to regenerate this long-neglected part of North Liverpool and create much-needed jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, we now await feedback from the secretary of state on whether he wishes to call in the application for determination but the city council is committed to supporting a development that will economically benefit this city for decades to come and help fast-track our post-pandemic recovery<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the council\u2019s resolution to approve, the plans will be referred to the housing secretary.<\/p>\n

The government will have an initial 21 days to review the application before reaching a decision.<\/p>\n
