facilities have been submitted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inverclyde.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Inverclyde Council<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishpower.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ScottishPower<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.turley.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Turley<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/business-and-planning-bill\/79276\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">planning permission application proposes<\/a> to create a new community on the site \u2013 to be known as Brueacre Village \u2013 giving a new lease of life to the site of the former power station, which was dismantled in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The planned programme of works also proposes upgrading the existing road network, including a new roundabout on the A78, which will form the main access to the site, and an upgraded junction at Inverkip North\/Kip Marina.<\/p>\n<p>Consultations were held with local people and communities during the planning stage.<\/p>\n<h3>Investing in Inverkip&#8217;s future<\/h3>\n<p>Alan Aitkenhead, ScottishPower\u2019s head of estates, said: \u201cA huge amount of effort has gone into getting these plans finalised for submission to the council and our thanks go to everyone involved, including local people who took the time to let us know what they thought during our public consultation events.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an exciting development opportunity that will support the regeneration and transformation of an extensive unused site while removing a former fossil fuel asset from our property portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to seeing the proposals progress through the planning process and a determination being made in due course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kate Donald, associate director at Turley, added: \u201cThis project is a significant investment in the future of the region and it\u2019s great that we\u2019ve been able to support ScottishPower on its application to redevelop this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/ace-brownfield-development\/68339\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vacant brownfield site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf successful, the development framework would also support the emerging <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.gov.scot\/planning-architecture\/2019\/10\/08\/national-planning-framework-4-the-essentials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Planning Framework 4<\/a>\u2019s aspirations for 20-minute neighbourhoods, where residents can access all the basic amenities they need within 20 minutes without using a car, reducing unnecessary vehicle trips.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Subject to application approval by Inverclyde Council, ScottishPower proposes to market the site for sale as an approved development opportunity.<\/p>\n<div
